If there is one thing that solidifies what we do, it is when we happen to be in the right place at the right time and we capture a moment that is priceless.  For Kasey & Paul there are many moments during this day that we were able to preserve but one that stands out to me the most, is tender expression between Kasey and her grandmother.  As  a friend of mine mentioned, your “heart is full” when you can share something like this and it’s why we love what we do.

Paul & Kasey’s  lovely wedding at the Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills, CA, was one of simple elegance, timeless traditions and warmth.  You can truly see by their family and friend’s heartfelt words in the film, that they are a couple who are extremely loved and respected. We couldn’t be happier for them and wish them all the congratulations in the world!

Funny, sentimental, and sweet is how I would describe the wedding of Justin & Amy at Wilson Vineyards.  As we sorted through all the footage from their winery wedding an underlying feeling seeped through all the imagery.  While nerves and anticipation were apparent, the deep rooted love that Justin & Amy have for one another seemed to permeate everyone around them.

I was first struck by Justin’s sense of humor, goofiness, and down right tenderness for Amy.  As someone who married a man whose sense of humor won my heart, I was instantly a fan.  Someone once said to me “Aren’t you worried that you’ll get irritated with the constant joking” when my husband and I were engaged. My reply was “I would rather be irritated than bored for the rest of my life!”  Sense of humor is what gets you through the tough times, makes you smile and keeps you young.  I don’t think Justin & Amy will ever be bored and we wish them years of happiness and laughing throughout their lives.

This wedding was especially a treat to film because we got to work alongside the 2Chic crew and they are always fun to collaborate with.  Aimee gave us lots of sunny details to film that make this highlight full of yellowy goodness.  Here is their sunny & sweet handmade wedding highlight film. “When we planned our wedding, we didn’t really think about having the day videotaped or recorded.  We wanted to do our best to stay budget-conscious throughout the process, which meant any thought of hiring a videographer went to the bottom of our priority list.  That is, until a few well-trusted people in both our lives presented the notion that our wedding would be a blur (they weren’t lying), and what if we wanted to re-live and remember all that happened?  Having thought about it, we decided that if we could work our numbers around, hiring a videographer would be a most valued investment.  Our wedding planner sent over three possibilities to review and check out.  LoveSpun Films was one of the three “videographer” websites sent to us.  We put “videographer” in quotations because Jessica Ringor of LoveSpun Films is MORE THAN a videographer.  When we saw her website, we honestly forgot what our original task at hand was!  We spent what seemed hours watching Jessica’s trailer films, wedding reels, and wanting to find more material to watch from her blog, Facebook, anything, just to see more.  If you have seen any LoveSpun films – they are exactly what they say they are – films – MOVIES – made and created from love, passion, and romance.  There is something so UNIQUE and CLASSIC about Jessica’s cinematography, clip placement, story movement, music…watching each film we could find, we felt transported to the wedding days of other couples and felt as though we knew their stories; like watching another life in another time.  Jessica Ringor is seriously and honestly at the cream of the crop – but she doesn’t realize it.  We don’t think she knows just how incredible she is, but we do know she believes, appreciates, and respects what she does in the industry of capturing love in motion.  From her initial emails and meeting her for the first time on the big day, we knew and felt there was something so special about her.  She is an ARTIST who genuinely LOVES the unfolding of a true love story – these stories exist and Jessica crafts them into beautifully made films.  Anyone can tell from her smile, kindness, professionalism, and humility that she is PASSIONATE, a true artist, when she works – before, during and after the big day.  Jessica delivered a proof of our film sweetly packaged with goodies to view.  She has definitely made us feel very important and special.  It’s rare to find a wedding film maker who allows her clients to view and review a proof of their wedding and be open to making any changes at all.  By the way, Jessica is also very much like a “ninja” without trying to be…we wish we had seen her throughout the day, but we didn’t!  We still scratch our heads and wonder how she did that.

If you really want something to remember, are looking for unique, classy, fun, sophisticated, fascinating, intimate, not your typical wedding video…find yourself transported and swept away by LoveSpun Films.  Jessica asked us questions, everything important to us for our wedding, and she created something so indescribable for us…more than we could have ever imagined our day to be.  You really do feel like you are the main stars in a classic, vintage movie.  We are probably some of the wisest couples around for going with Jessica Ringor and LoveSpun!  Real life moments captured on one of the most special of days in a piece of art…they are ours to keep and relive…not through a mere video with generic effects…but through a visual dream.  If we could write a paper about LoveSpun Films, that would be easy.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Jessica.  We’ll be going to LoveSpun Films for more…”

September brought repeated trips to the Sonoma & Napa Vallies  for the wine country wedding of Matt & Odessa and a very special project we are working on with Chef Pajo Bruich and Anani Lawson, formerly of The French Laundry, to create a short film about their collaboration of food & wine talents. The film is set to be debuted late winter 2011.

October started out with a bang with the absolutely fabulous wedding of Ben & Amy at the San Francisco Ferry Building, expertly designed and executed by the awesome Alison Ulshoffer Events and scrumptiously catered by Paula LeDuc Fine Catering.  Stay tuned for their wedding trailer that we are working on as we speak.

We filmed the adorable wedding of Kristen & Casey at the Historic Bee Bennett House in Placerville and we wrapped up the month with another trip to the Sonoma Wine Country to film the wedding of Evan & Kamila Gerber.  Evan & Kamila tied the knot in sunset splendor at the beautiful Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa, CA.  Just a few stills we pulled from our footage which is a good inclination that the film should be stunning.

In November, things really started heating up with a trip south of the border to film Clark & Sarah’s Mexican destination wedding at the Hotel Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta.  Another fabulously planned and designed wedding by destination wedding planner, Alison Ulshoffer Events, this wedding married California style and sophistication with the rustic and authentic experience of Jalisco culture and hospitality.  We had the pleasure of shooting alongside photographer Penny Sylvia, also hailing from Sacramento, to capture all the nuances of this very special destination wedding.

Less than 24 hours after returning from Puerto Vallarta, I was headed back to the airport to catch a plane to Florida where I was about to meet up with 40+ female filmmakers from all over the world for a 5 day workshop in the Bahamas.  At the POSH workshop we had the unique opportunity to network with and learn from some of the most influential women filmmakers in our industry.  Stay tuned for a film we whipped up about women filmmakers.

Upon returning back to California, I wrapped up the learning schedule by attending an all day, hands-on, Ray Roman Films workshop put on by the Bay Area Professional Videographers Association.  Needless to say, I was bubbling forth information to the LoveSpun team, infusing them with all the tips and tricks I gleaned in my travels.  After 3 months of non-stop filming it seems, the real work now begins.  We will be working our hardest to create new and exciting films to share with you soon
