Fashion details: Rebekah’s beautiful dress is a “Priscilla of Boston” gown and her amazing shoes are by Stuart Weitzman.  Erica Carr, Rebekah’s personal stylist, executed her flawless hair & makeup not only before the ceremony but remained throughout the event for touch-ups to make sure Rebekah looked her finest all day long. What a bride’s dream!

This wedding was truly amazing to film and we are so happy that we were chosen to document this event.  We wish Rebekah & Drew all the best in their new life together! Here is their freshly spun highlights film.

This last Friday, August 06, 2010, Aldo & Christine Soriano tied the knot in true urban style! This beautiful wedding was designed and planned by Alison Ulshoffer Events.  The day started off in city chic surroundings at The fabulous Citizen Hotel for the couple’s getting ready location and roof top reveal.  We had so much fun tagging along with Photographer Penny Sylvia and her team to capture some of the amazing downtown footage.  The wedding day was topped off by a stunning reception at the Historic Elk’s Tower, flawlessly designed and executed by Alison & her team.  This was truly an amazing celebration of not only Aldo & Christine’s love, but of family ties and friendship. Recently, I had the great pleasure of filming a behind the scenes look at one of the features for Nonpareil Magazine’s current issue.  This dazzling issue of Nonpareil Magazine features weddings inspired by famous romantic movies & for this particular article, Yelena Johnson of The Stylish Soiree brings the movie Amelie to life with her French inspired design & styling.  Meg Perotti, the oh-so amazing photographer, was on hand to capture the fabulous imagery for the article.

This was a particularly amazing project, not only because of the stunning artistry of the shoot, but for the opportunity to work with such an innovative team of professionals.  Here is the team:

One such story belongs to Shalice & Stephen.  Usually I have the opportunity to get to know my clients before their weddings at consultations and throughout the planning stages. In this case, though, I only met Shalice & Stephen on the day of their wedding because of their last minute booking.  During the ceremony I heard the minister mentioning that their first kiss was actually whilst performing CPR.  I was intrigued, to say the least.

After the wedding I talked with some of the bridesmaids to fill in the details and found out their amazing story:

Shalice & Stephen and had only recently met and started to date when they planned a fun filled day at the beach with some of their close friends. Stephen, eager to show off to his new-found girlfriend, decided to hit the waves.  Shalice was of course was watching, but soon she could no longer see him in the water.  She began to worry and quickly realized the situation was urgent. She called upon a local surfer named John Funky to go in after him, she asked him to find her boyfriend and please tell him to come in.  As the surfer went into the ocean, he saw Stephen was being carried away in a rip-tide but by the time he actually reached that spot, Stephen was gone.  He dove into the water, desperately looking for Stephen.  Like a needle in a hay stack, the surfer finally found Stephen’s lifeless body.  He pulled him into the beach and Shalice quickly began performing mouth to mouth resuscitation.  They hadn’t even kissed yet and she was called upon to save his life.  Later, as he was coming out of his coma, he said to his mother, about Shalice, “Doesn’t she just light up the room?”

This nontraditional first kiss certainly created a bond between the couple & 3 years after they met, Stephen proposed to Shailce on that very same beach.  Two weeks before their wedding they journeyed back to this special spot once again, to collect sand for their wedding centerpieces.

About the filming: We ventured out to Amador Wine Country to set the scene for this film. Aimee Wendell of 2Chic Events & Design, came up with the inspiration for this shoot and did a fabulous job styling it as well as securing this oh so cute vintage bug.  Save the Date films are taken to a whole different level when styled by a professional designer.  If this is a service that interests you, please contact us so we can start planning your dream STD film.  Jacqueline Photography was also on hand to capture some of the behinds the scenes action and to take some beautiful stills of the couple.

I especially loved this wedding because of the uber-cute details, Mini Coopers, lemonade stands, and the most adorable place cards at the reception, to name a few. Before the ceremony, the couple chose to have their photo session at this beautiful outdoor location, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.  During the day I had the pleasure of working alongside of Melissa of People Shooter Photography and though I was not photographing this wedding, I did manage to grab a few stills in the midst of doing my filming as well.  Here are a few teaser photos from their wedding.  You might notice the bride’s beautiful wedding ring, this is a custom creation of Michael Green & Co., renowned celebrity jewelry designer.

After the ceremony, guests ventured down to the Four Seasons Lodge in El Dorado Hills where they were treated to Ginger~Mint or Strawberry~Mint Lemonade and delectable hors d’oevres while the bride & groom finished up family photos.  One of the details that really caught my attention were the cute little place cards on the head table, an idea crafted by the event designer, Jilcara Reynolds.  Micah & Shelah had adorable little black & white photos of them holding a chalk board with each persons name written out.  Imagining the amount time it must of took to make such personal place cards,  the guests were touched, I am sure.  It was such a pleasure to have worked with such an awesome couple and I thank them for allowing my team to be part of such an amazing day!

Mike and Alex were surrounded by a close knit group of amazing friends, making up their fun-filled and energetic bridal party. While the ominous clouds held off their snowflakes for the evening, the bride and groom ventured down to the beach for their photography session.  Sand filled our shoes as we aimed to catch those precious moments and Mike & Alex’s love seemed to be the only thing keeping everyone warm despite the freezing temperatures.  Pictures to come soon, but for now, please enjoy this handmade wedding trailer.~
