Into The Woods
Tiffany & Kirk | March 12, 2011
If you are like me, when you think of Las Vegas, there are a few things that come immediately to the mind: the fast life, bright lights, and the jingle of slot machines. In reality though, the Las Vegas area is a nature lover’s paradise with rigid mountain ranges peering over the city and unique dessert landscapes beckoning hiking and exploration.
For our lovely couple, Tiffany & Kirk, the mountains of Las Vegas couldn’t have been a more fitting location for their rustic & vintage, woodsy wedding. For Tiffany & Kirk it was like coming home. This is where their romance started, a chance encounter snowboarding on Mt. Charleston sporting helmets, goggles, and neck gators. They got to know each other over weekends of winter camping and snowboarding (with his now eight-year-old son, James,) dinners, movies and concerts to indie and punk rock shows…. and then into summer surfing trips, more truck camping, etc..
When Tiffany shared their love story with me, I knew they were a LoveSpun couple for sure! With interests and hobbies close to my own heart, I felt a connection with them even though we hadn’t yet met. Last weekend we packed our gear, boarded a plane, and headed to Las Vegas to capture the uniting of their two lives. While most of the wedding had nature inspired and rustic touches, handmade banners, faux ski lift ticket escort cards, designed by Deb Pang Davis and Rachel Yoakum of Coco Paperie, and loads of milk glass holding gorgeous natural groupings of florals, there were some distinct reminders that we were in an entertainment mecca with a flamenco dancer and contortionists from Cirque Du Soleil. The unique performances entertained guests as they wined and dined and experienced “a little Vegas flavor up on the mountain,” as Tiffany described it.
We had an amazing time filming this super fun wedding and working with some fabulous vendors too. We met up with our buddy Yelena Johnson of The Stylish Soiree, had the awesome privilege of shooting alongside Kitty & Craig of Twin Lens, and listened to DJ Smiles Davis rock the house.
Here is a handmade trailer to wet your appetite as we work on crafting their highlight film. Check back soon for the full length film, you won’t want to miss it!
