Being in the wedding videography business means hearing lots of great love stories over the years. Sometimes though, unique stories rise from the others.
One such story belongs to Shalice & Stephen. Usually I have the opportunity to get to know my clients before their weddings at consultations and throughout the planning stages. In this case, though, I only met Shalice & Stephen on the day of their wedding because of their last minute booking. During the ceremony I heard the minister mentioning that their first kiss was actually whilst performing CPR. I was intrigued, to say the least.
After the wedding I talked with some of the bridesmaids to fill in the details and found out their amazing story:
Shalice & Stephen and had only recently met and started to date when they planned a fun filled day at the beach with some of their close friends. Stephen, eager to show off to his new-found girlfriend, decided to hit the waves. Shalice was of course was watching, but soon she could no longer see him in the water. She began to worry and quickly realized the situation was urgent. She called upon a local surfer named John Funky to go in after him, she asked him to find her boyfriend and please tell him to come in. As the surfer went into the ocean, he saw Stephen was being carried away in a rip-tide but by the time he actually reached that spot, Stephen was gone. He dove into the water, desperately looking for Stephen. Like a needle in a hay stack, the surfer finally found Stephen’s lifeless body. He pulled him into the beach and Shalice quickly began performing mouth to mouth resuscitation. They hadn’t even kissed yet and she was called upon to save his life. Later, as he was coming out of his coma, he said to his mother, about Shalice, “Doesn’t she just light up the room?”
This nontraditional first kiss certainly created a bond between the couple & 3 years after they met, Stephen proposed to Shailce on that very same beach. Two weeks before their wedding they journeyed back to this special spot once again, to collect sand for their wedding centerpieces.
Congratulations on your new life together and thanks for allowing us to capture this special day for you! Here is Stephen & Shalice’s handmade wedding trailer.
In this Save-the-Date film, I am not sure who steals the attention more, the adorable Jessica & Nolan or the adorable vintage VW Bug. Either way, it’s adorable all around and packed full of eye candy! Jessica & Nolan are getting married May of 2011 and were looking for a fun and fresh way to tell all their friends and family about their upcoming wedding. This non-traditional “Save the Date” is sure to do the trick!
About the filming: We ventured out to Amador Wine Country to set the scene for this film. Aimee Wendell of 2Chic Events & Design, came up with the inspiration for this shoot and did a fabulous job styling it as well as securing this oh so cute vintage bug. Save the Date films are taken to a whole different level when styled by a professional designer. If this is a service that interests you, please contact us so we can start planning your dream STD film. Jacqueline Photography was also on hand to capture some of the behinds the scenes action and to take some beautiful stills of the couple.
Last Saturday we had the great pleasure of shooting a wedding film for Micah & Shelah in beautiful El Dorado Hills, California. Their love story began just one short year ago at a friends wedding. Shelah was a bridesmaid and Micah was a friend of the groom filling in the role as DJ for the evening. Apparently, as the story goes, they were both checking each other out during the reception, one thing led to another and pretty soon a first date was arranged. After a whirlwind romance the couple tied the knot in style and shared a fabulous evening with their closest friends and family.
I especially loved this wedding because of the uber-cute details, Mini Coopers, lemonade stands, and the most adorable place cards at the reception, to name a few. Before the ceremony, the couple chose to have their photo session at this beautiful outdoor location, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. During the day I had the pleasure of working alongside of Melissa of People Shooter Photography and though I was not photographing this wedding, I did manage to grab a few stills in the midst of doing my filming as well. Here are a few teaser photos from their wedding. You might notice the bride’s beautiful wedding ring, this is a custom creation of Michael Green & Co., renowned celebrity jewelry designer.
After the ceremony, guests ventured down to the Four Seasons Lodge in El Dorado Hills where they were treated to Ginger~Mint or Strawberry~Mint Lemonade and delectable hors d’oevres while the bride & groom finished up family photos. One of the details that really caught my attention were the cute little place cards on the head table, an idea crafted by the event designer, Jilcara Reynolds. Micah & Shelah had adorable little black & white photos of them holding a chalk board with each persons name written out. Imagining the amount time it must of took to make such personal place cards, the guests were touched, I am sure. It was such a pleasure to have worked with such an awesome couple and I thank them for allowing my team to be part of such an amazing day!

It’s true that I am a filmmaker, I specialize in capturing images, sounds, action, and emotions too. I’ve heard it said “that if a picture is worth a thousand words what is a film worth?” While it is a fact that wedding film making is my passion, there is nothing quite like the magic of capturing a single moment in time. Photography has a way of making time stop, if only for a moment, that I might freeze my children’s laughter and save it for another day. Sometimes thousand words is all you need.
I am the proud mother of two of the world’s most beautiful children, Gwyneth & Jonas London (of course I might be biased). As a business owner, mother and wife, I am often pulled into many different directions. I often struggle between trying to be the best mother I can be, the best wife, the best sister, the best daughter, the best friend, and have the best career at the same time.
Yesterday, in my attempt to be the “best mom,” I agreed to entertain my kids and their best buds with an afternoon of fun. Yesterday was just one of those special days when I decided to switch the old DSLR into still mode instead of my typical film mode. We played at the park till their little hearts were content, stuffed our faces with homemade Shepard’s Pie and Mac’n cheese, and in harmony we all belted out “It’s a hard knock life” while curled up on the couch watching “Annie.”
While I absolutely love making films for my clients, there is nothing I love more than spending time with my family. Yesterday was one of those days that helps me keep my priorities straight. Goal: less time in front of the computer and more time watching my kids grow. A day like yesterday reminds me of one of my favorite poems by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton:
“The cooking and cleaning will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.”
I am so thankful that I have the loving support of my husband and kids that allows me to accomplish all that I am able to do. Here are my thousand words…
On November 6, 2009 Michael & Alex sealed their commitment to each other in high sierra style. Their wedding, which took place at the beautiful Edgewood Golf Club in South Lake Tahoe, was absolutely stunning. Mike and Alex were surrounded by a close knit group of amazing friends, making up their fun-filled and energetic bridal party. While the ominous clouds held off their snowflakes for the evening, the bride and groom ventured down to the beach for their photography session. Sand filled our shoes as we aimed to catch those precious moments and Mike & Alex’s love seemed to be the only thing keeping everyone warm despite the freezing temperatures. Pictures to come soon, but for now, please enjoy this handmade wedding trailer.~
For the best play back, push “play” and then immediately push “pause” to allow the film to buffer before trying to play. If you do not have a fast video card and the film is skipping you may have to click the “HD is on” in the top right corner to “HD is off.” All right, there you go, have fun!~
This past Friday night we had the pleasure of filming one of Sacramento’s hottest events of the year. “Champagne & Sparkle” given by Michael Greene & Company, hosted some of Sacramento’s most elite and fashionable people. Michael Greene’s guests were wined and dined as they got a closer look at some of the latest sparkling offerings. Beautiful models in catsuits showcased some of the most fabulous pieces available from the smoldering South Sea Pearls worth $68,000 to a gorgeous 52 carat diamond necklace valued at $207,000. Set atop the L Street Lofts in the Pent House Suite, this chic city event was a feast for the eyes. Enjoy~
For best play back you will need high speed internet and a good video card. Press play and then pause to allow the film to buffer for a few moments so that the clip will play all the way through. Thanks for stopping by our blog!~
A special thanks to all the wonderful photographers that we had the opportunity to work along side at this event. Juan F. Ayora-Holguin, Sarah Dawson Photography, and Clay from Whiteley Photography. You guys were so much fun to work with.
For those of you who have not had a chance to visit The Bridges in San Ramon, this San Francisco Bay Area golf club offers stunning views of lush rolling hills complimented by fresh pacific breezes. This was the backdrop for Chris & Jannel’s amazing and excitement-filled wedding reception. The event was flawlessly planned and executed and went off without a hitch. Chris & Jannel were surrounded by a wonderful group and friends and tight-knit family, you could really feel the LOVE!
Here a few snaps of the beautiful day followed by their ~Handmade Wedding Trailer. Enjoy!~

This past weekend we had the pleasure of filming the wedding of Lance & Heather in the cute little village of Yountville just outside of Napa Valley, Ca. Even though Napa Valley is practically in our back yard, for Minnesota natives, Lance & Heather and all their vino loving guests, this was the ultimate destination wedding. The actual wedding took place at the Domaine Chandon Winery inside a secluded enclave called “The Grotto.” The ceremony was followed by an intimate dinner at Domaine Chandon’s Etoile Restaurant, the only fine dining restaurant in Napa Valley located in a winery. Etoile features California cuisine with a French influence. One of the guests, a foodie, I am told, said that the passed hors d’oeuvres were some of the best he as ever had. Makes me wish I had swiped an hors d’oeuvre on the way down to photography session. Check out a few beautiful stills followed by the introductory chapter and photo session of Lance & Heather’s ~Handmade Wedding Film. ~
